SEEDS - Dawn Creek White Xeranthemum
Xeranthemum annuum. From our breeding program—One of the most quietly magical summer flowers we grow on our farm, our white xeranthemum has developed somewhat of a cult following among Bay Area and Sacramento floral designers in recent years. This pure white mix of single and double flowers has been selected through our breeding efforts over the last four years. Thus far as a cut flower farm we have never been able to grow enough bed feet and successions of this beauty to satisfy customer demand! Each year despite consistently increasing production, every stem has been presold before ever making it to our official availability list. If you sell to floral designers, are a farmer florist, or a home gardener who wants to add some magic sparkle to your bouquets, this is a must grow! A relative of pearly everlasting, the grey-green foliage smells like butterscotch and the blooms are beautiful both fresh and dried.
Farmers, we recommend growing xeranthemum as a “one and done” and sowing at 3-4 week intervals to make harvesting and processing a truly easy and enjoyable experience. To harvest, we wait until plants reach around 24” in height and are in full bloom, then cut the entire plant at the ground and break down into spray stems—Super easy. Buds will continue to open in the vase and flowers are beautiful both fresh and dried.
Half-hardy annual. Surface sow indoors in spring/summer, 6-8 weeks before last frost and transplant out after danger of frost has passed. Space plants 6-9” Full sun. Excellent cut & dried flower. Can also be fall planted and overwintered in coastal climates for spring harvest.
Seed is a mix of single and double blooms that you won’t find anywhere else on the market!
approx 100 seeds/packet.
ALL SEEDS AND BULBS will ship in Late February. At this time we are only able to ship within the continental US.
