Dawn Creek Farm is located on 2.5 acres in in the Santa Cruz mountains, CA. The location, size, and character of our land makes it ideal for growing an astounding array of special and seasonal cut flowers. In addition, we also grow a variety of vegetables and natural dyes, and our property is home to Toby’s timber framing business, Valley Timberframes.

HOW WE GROW

Everything starts with the soil. From healthy soils spring healthy plants, and healthy plants feed the hearts and souls and bellies of people! We incorporate low and no-till methods on our farm, which in turn supports the building of soil structure and biodiversity, while recycling nutrients and organic matter back into the earth, and adding to the carbon sequestration potential of our land.

Because our farm is small, we rely on high-density plantings and a wide diversity of crops to carry us through the year. Flowers are a natural first choice for us, since they provide an abundance of blooms that maximize our fields’ growing potential. In addition, our flowers provide incredible habitat for our honey bees and an amazing array of native pollinators and beneficial insects, making the farm an insectary oasis in the summertime when the surrounding forage and pastures dry down.

While we are not certified organic, we use only organically certified inputs, including fertilizers, compost, and pest control methods. We hope to contribute to the health of our farm’s ecosystem while providing the best quality product to our customers. Organic practices ensure we grow flowers that you can feel good burying your face in, and fruit and veggies that are safe to eat straight out of the field. Because of this, our products are highly seasonal, and we choose our crops and varieties based on what proves most successful and vibrant in our climate!
